AGRI4POL - Promoting sustainable agriculture for pollinators (2025-2028)
AGRI4POL’s ambition is to assist the transition of agriculture from being a pressure on pollinators to becoming a positive force for managing and restoring pollinator biodiversity, crop pollination services, and co-benefits to ecosystems and people. To achieve this transition towards more pollinator friendly farming systems and value chains, AGRI4POL will advance scientific understanding of crop-farming system-pollinator relationships from the crop gene to the agro-ecosystem. The project is funded through the HORIZON-RIA framework (EU). PollHab - Pollinators typical of Habitats protected under the Habitats Directive (2025-2026) The aim of this proejct is to help the Commission implement Action 4.2 to support the Member States in including pollinator species as typical species for the habitats protected under the Habitats Directive. SAFER - Strengthening Agricultural landscape multi-Functionality through expansion of agroecological farming in EuRope (2025-2027) The SAFER project will address these challenges and knowledge gaps by mobilising a European network of 6 Living Labs distributed across contrasting regions and social-ecological systems, in a multidisciplinary action research approach. We will specifically: (i) co-design best suited agro-ecological practices adapted to local social-ecological conditions through a participatory approach that actively involves stakeholders in each Living Lab; (ii) quantify the multiple agronomical, environmental and socio-economic benefits and risks of scaling up these agro-ecological practices from the field to the landscape scale using a similar landscape-scale design across Living Labs; (iii) forecast the whole-system consequences of various landscape-scale strategies of deployment for farmers and local stakeholders; (iv) identify how local policies, stakeholder demands and the Living Lab methodology can enhance or limit the expansion of agro-ecological practices at the landscape level. AGRITECH - Spoke 2: Crop health, A multidisciplinary system approach to reduce the use of agro-chemicals (2023-2026) We are responsible of the Work package 2.1 of Spoke 2 of Agritech center supported by the PNRR initiative. In our WP, we aim at developing novel agro-ecological and landscape management strategies to reduce pesticide use across the major Italian cropping systems. SOS - Sustainable control of Philaenus spumarius, vectro of Xylella fastidiosa (2023-2026) In this national project, we aim at understanding the effects of landscape processes on the spatial distribution of the vectors of Xylella fastidiosa. CiXi - Pest survey cards of Non-EU Cicadomorpha species known as vectors of Xylella fastidiosa (2024-2025) The main objectives of the CiXi project are to prepare a vector detection database including the biology, ecology, distribution and the detection/identification methodologies for the known vector species and evaluating the best criteria to group the taxa by shared traits (e.g. by crop, vector life cycle, or detection methods); ii) to prepare the pest survey cards for each group of taxa. SENTINEL - The responses of Italian mountain ecosystems to climate change (2024-2026) We are partner in the SENTINEL national project where we try to understand the role of biotic interactions in plant range shift dynamics in mountain ecosystems. In particular, we will explore the role of pollinators and herbivores. SAFEGUARD - Safeguarding European wild pollinators (2022-2025) Safeguard will establish empirical research for a systematic multiscale assessment of multiple pressures on pollinators and the context-dependent effectiveness of interventions. Working with our stakeholders, we will provide an improved understanding of the diverse values of European pollinators, and develop and test new approaches using multiple interventions to benefit pollinators, from field to landscape scales across agricultural, natural, and urban systems. The project is funded through the H2020 framework (EU). |
